The Adidas Ultraboost 5X is a daily training shoe designed for road running and neutral pronation. This model marks a shift toward performance-focused use while maintaining versatility for everyday wear, making it suitable for general daily mileage, uptempo runs, and lifestyle use.

The midsole features Light Boost foam in a full-length configuration, delivering an energetic and resilient ride with consistent cushioning across different paces. The foam provides good energy return and feels snappier than traditional Boost, offering a lively bounce without being overly soft. An X-shaped Torsion System in the midfoot adds torsional rigidity for smoother transitions and stability during the stride. The Ultraboost 5X works well for daily training runs and moderate uptempo efforts, though it feels less comfortable at very slow easy paces or for short speed intervals.

The upper uses a sock-like Primeknit knit construction that is soft, stretchy, and accommodating for medium to wide feet. The integrated tongue and split heel collar design provide a secure midfoot lockdown, while molded external heel counters add structure and prevent Achilles rubbing. The knit material runs warm in hot conditions, making the shoe better suited for cooler weather. Reflective overlays replace the plastic cage found in previous Ultraboost models, reducing weight while maintaining support.

The outsole uses Continental rubber in key contact areas, offering reliable grip on road surfaces and smooth paths. Coverage is extensive across the heel and forefoot for durability and traction, with lighter rubber sections in the midfoot to reduce weight. The Adidas Ultraboost 5X handles dry and wet pavement well, though traction remains average on more technical or uneven terrain.
