The Nike Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex features a ReactX foam midsole that delivers a bouncy, cushioned ride with strong energy return. The tall stack height and pronounced rocker geometry promote smooth transitions between pavement and trails, while the soft yet responsive foam character suits steady-paced runs and longer distances on moderate terrain. ReactX provides a livelier feel than previous React versions, with noticeable spring during climbs and sustained comfort over extended efforts.

The upper uses Gore-Tex Invisible Fit technology integrated into a single-layer knit construction, maintaining breathability while keeping feet dry. A built-in gaiter and tall ankle cuff effectively block trail debris and water entry. The bootie-like fit and padded, gusseted tongue enhance comfort, while a winged toe cap offers protection on rocky sections. The shoe provides excellent heel lock and fits true to size with medium width, though some runners may find the toe box slightly narrow.

The outsole employs Nike's All Terrain Compound rubber with shallow lugs around 3mm deep.
