The midsole features Mizuno Enerzy foam, a moderately lively EVA-based compound that delivers balanced cushioning with good vibration absorption. The signature Wave Plate—a rigid Pebax element extending from the heel into the midfoot—provides stability and forward propulsion while creating a firm, snappy ride. The Mizuno Wave Rider 27 suits daily training runs, recovery efforts, and tempo work, though the firm feel and 12mm drop make it less suitable for speedwork or runners preferring lower-drop shoes.
