The Salomon AERO GLIDE 3 is a lightweight, maximally cushioned road trainer built for versatility across the full training spectrum. Designed for neutral runners and those with higher volume or wider feet, it handles everything from recovery runs to daily training and long distances up to marathon.

The Salomon AERO GLIDE 3 features a full-length EnergyFoam Evo midsole, an eTPU-based foam that delivers responsive, energetic cushioning with a snappy rather than mushy character. Despite the tall stack, the midsole feels light and nimble with strong shock absorption and solid energy return. The foam remains bouncy and responsive without sinking or bottoming out, making the shoe suitable for any pace from easy recovery efforts to moderate uptempo runs. A gentle forefoot rocker promotes smooth transitions, though heel strikers may notice a slightly clunky landing due to the tall stack and small heel bevel.

The upper uses seamless engineered mesh construction with all stitching placed on the exterior, creating a smooth, irritation-free interior. The moderately thick mesh provides good breathability through a grid pattern, while external stiffening elements and a semi-rigid heel counter offer support. The fit runs slightly large with above-average volume, and the upper stretches into an even roomier feel after initial break-in. A heel lock is recommended for optimal security, and the partially gusseted tongue with moderate padding stays in place during runs.

The Contagrip rubber outsole rings the entire platform in firmer black rubber, with a slightly softer gray compound in the central zone. The relatively smooth tread pattern provides reliable traction on dry roads and acceptable grip in wet conditions, though wet performance is below average compared to more aggressively patterned competitors. Large areas of exposed midsole foam keep weight down and durability high for road use, but make the Salomon AERO GLIDE 3 less suitable for trail running outside of smooth gravel paths.
