The midsole uses Salomon's optiFOAM² compound with Reverse Camber geometry, delivering a firm but forgiving platform that emphasizes control and durability rather than bounce. The cushioning feels consistent and protective underfoot, tuned for steady aerobic paces around 5:00–6:00 per kilometer. The Aero Blaze 3 GRVL GORE-TEX doesn't provide a snappy toe-off or propulsive push, instead offering predictable, even cushioning that holds up well over longer distances and varied terrain.

The upper features engineered mesh with sensiFIT construction and TPU overlays around the toebox for added structure and protection on unpaved surfaces. A traditional flat lacing system provides reliable lockdown, while the high-rising padded collar offers secure ankle support without causing heel slip. The fit runs true to size with a generous toe box and medium overall width, making it suitable for higher-volume feet. Breathability is reduced compared to the standard road version, and the shoe can trap heat in warm or humid conditions.

The Gravel ContaGRIP outsole uses chevron-shaped lugs and a tackier rubber compound that bites effectively into dirt, crushed gravel, and wet pavement. The Salomon Aero Blaze 3 GRVL GORE-TEX handles mixed surfaces confidently, from asphalt to park trails and forest paths, though it's not intended for technical singletrack or muddy terrain.
