The On Cloudsurfer Max is a max-cushioned road running shoe designed for neutral runners seeking a stable daily trainer for easy to moderate paces and long runs. It serves as On's answer to maximum cushioning while maintaining the brand's characteristically firmer ride quality.

The midsole uses Helion foam with CloudTec Phase technology, featuring hollowed-out pods that compress during footstrike to provide impact protection and encourage forward roll. Despite the substantial stack height, the Cloudsurfer Max delivers a noticeably firm ride compared to typical max-cushioned shoes, with decent energy return and a rockered platform that includes forefoot rocker and toe spring. The setup works well for easy to moderate daily training but lacks the responsiveness needed for tempo runs or speed work.

The engineered mesh upper is breathable and stretchy with a roomy, wide-foot-friendly toe box. A gusseted tongue with padding helps secure the midfoot, while the padded heel collar includes internal Achilles padding for comfort. The shoe runs true to size and provides stable footing for a neutral platform, with good lockdown through the lacing system.
