The Mizuno NEO VISTA 2 is a maximalist road running shoe designed for daily training and long-distance running. With its towering stack height and dual-density cushioning system, it targets neutral runners seeking plush comfort for easy runs, recovery sessions, and high-mileage training.

The midsole features dual-density Enerzy NXT foam with a nitrogen-infused TPU top layer and an EVA-based bottom layer, creating an extremely soft, bouncy, and energetic ride. A glass fiber-reinforced nylon wave plate sandwiched between the two foam layers provides mild structure and snappier toe-offs, while the Speed Assist rocker geometry promotes smooth transitions. The Mizuno NEO VISTA 2 excels at recovery paces and easy runs through steady marathon-pace efforts around 4:30-5:50 min/km, but the deep, plush cushioning limits responsiveness at faster speeds, making it unsuitable for interval or threshold workouts.

The one-piece engineered knit upper offers a sock-like fit with wider ventilation holes for improved breathability compared to the original version. The tongueless design features strategic thickening for foot security, though many runners report a baggy feel in the forefoot that requires tight lacing. Heel overlays on the medial and lateral sides replace a traditional counter, providing some structure while maintaining flexibility. Despite the wave plate's stabilizing influence, the Mizuno NEO VISTA 2 remains best suited for neutral runners, as the soft midsole can feel wobbly on cambered roads and uneven surfaces.

The outsole uses X10 rubber compound in a lugged pattern with full perimeter coverage and a central cutout for flexibility. The updated tread design delivers good traction on both wet and dry road surfaces, with improved grip and durability over the first version. The Mizuno NEO VISTA 2 is designed exclusively for road running and performs well on pavement and track surfaces.
