It functions primarily as a daily trainer for easy to moderate paces and recovery days, with strong performance for all-day walking as well.

The HOKA ARAHI 9 features dual-density compression-molded EVA in the midsole, combined with an Enhanced H-Frame that uses firmer foam in an open H shape to support the medial and lateral sides. The cushioning is softer and more forgiving than the previous Arahi 8, particularly at the heel, while maintaining composure at faster paces without feeling mushy. Hoka's Meta-Rocker geometry keeps transitions smooth and continuous from heel contact through toe-off. The ride delivers balanced cushioning rather than maximal squish, making it best suited for easy to moderate training paces, with a practical pace limit around 5 min/km.

The upper uses engineered mesh with a tighter medial weave for structure, reinforced by haptic prints and 3D silicone touchpoints that eliminate the need for traditional overlays. An extended heel counter and redesigned collar provide secure midfoot and heel lockdown, while the mesh moves air well in heat and humidity. The smooth construction sits comfortably against the foot with an accommodating toe-box volume. The H-Frame stability system provides guidance without forcing or overcorrecting gait, delivering effective support with a natural feel.
