The midsole features energyFOAM, an EVA blend that delivers soft, comfortable cushioning with good energy return. RelieveSphere technology uses circular dimples across the midsole and outsole interface to diffuse impact forces and reduce pressure points on rocky, uneven surfaces. The Salomon ULTRA GLIDE 4 offers a smooth, well-balanced rocker that flows naturally through varied terrain while maintaining stability despite its high stack height. The plush platform works best for easy to moderate paces, recovery runs, and ultra-distance training.

The upper uses engineered mesh with integrated support reinforcements that replace traditional overlays, improving breathability and abrasion resistance. The mesh features varying weave density for targeted ventilation while maintaining structure. A Quicklace system with lace pocket provides secure foot lockdown, and tall sidewalls around the rearfoot and midfoot enhance stability and centering. The fit runs true to size in length with a spacious forefoot, and the shoe is available in a wide variant for runners needing additional room.

The outsole uses Contagrip rubber with full-length coverage and around 4.5mm lugs that provide traction across mud, snow, wet rock, and loose terrain. The Salomon ULTRA GLIDE 4 handles technical trails, groomed paths, and mixed surfaces with reliable grip, though traction on wet rock is not absolute. The RelieveSphere cutouts in the outsole allow the platform to flex and conform to irregular ground.
