The Salomon S/LAB ULTRA DUST is a trail running shoe purpose-built for desert ultra racing and long-distance running in hot, sandy environments. Developed for runners tackling desert ultras, multi-day stage races, and wide-open terrain where sand and dust exclusion is critical.

The Salomon S/LAB ULTRA DUST features a dual-layer midsole system combining Energy Foam+ on top for rebound with a denser Energy Foam base layer for stability and durability. Relieve Sphere technology integrates small dome-shaped structures into the midsole that diffuse pressure points to reduce fatigue on extended runs. The cushioning feels bouncy without being squishy, surprisingly stable despite the stack height, and nimble on firm ground. The setup works well for maintaining steady pacing across flat desert terrain and moderate inclines while remaining comfortable enough for multi-day efforts.

The upper centers on a full integrated zippered gaiter that wraps the ankle and seals out sand and debris without gaps or velcro. The thin, highly breathable mesh stretches to allow ankle mobility while an elastic seal at the top cinches tight. The Salomon S/LAB ULTRA DUST runs true to size with a wider toe box than typical Salomon models. Foam sidewalls at the narrow midfoot provide lateral security and structure, while the Quicklace system delivers a locked-in feel.

The Contagrip All Terrain rubber outsole uses low-profile 4mm lugs with wide surface area designed to float over sand rather than sink in. Full rubber coverage extends durability while minimizing drag on soft terrain. The S/LAB ULTRA DUST grips well on packed trail, hard-packed dirt, fire roads, and dry surfaces but is not built for muddy conditions, slick rock, or technical alpine descents.
