Puma DEVIATE PURE NITRO running shoes

The Puma Deviate Pure Nitro is a lightweight road running shoe designed as a versatile performance trainer. It works well for daily training runs, tempo efforts, and racing across various distances, offering a balance between cushioning and responsiveness for runners seeking an adaptable training shoe.

The midsole features a full-length NITROFOAM construction, using nitrogen-injected cushioning that delivers a firm yet responsive ride with energetic rebound. The foam provides a comfortable platform that feels soft on landing while maintaining good ground contact. The Puma Deviate Pure Nitro uses a plateless design, relying on the midsole and outsole structure for response rather than a carbon plate. The shoe handles a wide range of paces from easy runs through tempo work and shorter races, though it may require a break-in period of around 50-60 km before the cushioning fully softens and the ride becomes more balanced.

The upper uses an engineered mesh construction with breathable panels and a traditional lacing system. A gusseted tongue with perforations enhances breathability while preventing tongue slip. The heel counter is rigid and well-padded, providing secure lockdown with minimal slippage. The fit runs true to size with a snug, low-volume profile, particularly in the forefoot where the toe box is tapered. This construction works best for runners with narrow to normal-width feet.

The outsole features PumaGrip rubber with extensive coverage across the forefoot and heel zones. The rubber compound offers reliable grip on wet and dry pavement while adding durability and stabilizing the soft foam midsole. The Puma Deviate Pure Nitro is built for road running and track work, with enough traction to handle occasional light gravel paths.
