The On Cloudmonster 3 uses a triple-layer CloudTec configuration with Helion foam that provides firm, balanced cushioning rather than soft plushness. The CloudTec pods compress moderately at the heel with firmer pods in the forefoot, creating a distinct underfoot feel. A pronounced rocker geometry with an early forefoot rocker promotes smooth heel-to-toe transitions during easy and moderate efforts. The midsole is torsionally stiff and rides firmly out of the box, softening somewhat with accumulated mileage. This shoe is best suited to easy running and recovery paces, while faster tempo efforts and speedwork feel awkward due to the high stack and firm platform that doesn't respond quickly.

The engineered mesh upper offers breathability and a secure fit with a snug midfoot and normal-width heel. A fully gusseted tongue with strategic padding locks down the midfoot effectively, while a padded heel collar with a moderately stiff counter holds the foot securely.
