The On Cloudflow 5 features a dual-layer midsole with Helion HF superfoam in the top layer and Helion foam below, combined with a glass fiber-nylon Speedboard plate sandwiched between. This setup delivers a firm, responsive ride that encourages quick turnovers and efficient transitions. The pronounced rocker geometry promotes a smooth, forward-rolling stride. Cushioning is moderate and best suited for tempo pace, intervals, and half-marathon to marathon goal pace efforts rather than easy or recovery runs.

The upper uses a dual-layer engineered mesh construction that provides a snug, streamlined fit with good breathability. The midfoot and heel lock down securely while allowing some forefoot room for toe splay, though the overall fit runs narrow. A thin gusseted tongue integrates into the upper, and an extra set of eyelets enables custom lacing for additional arch or ankle support. The fit is true to size with a firm heel counter.

The outsole features CloudTec rubber pods concentrated at the heel with extended lateral coverage and grippy rubber extending toward the toe. The segmented pod design allows flex while maintaining traction on road surfaces and wet pavement.
