Running shoes On CLOUDBOOM MAX

The On Cloudboom Max is a road running shoe designed for recreational runners and marathon training. This plated super trainer targets everyday runners looking for a versatile shoe that can handle long runs, marathon-pace efforts, and race day.

The midsole features two layers of Helion HF foam with different characteristics: a softer PEBA-based layer on top for responsiveness and a firmer TPEE-based layer underneath for stability and durability. Sandwiched between these foam layers sits a glass-fiber nylon Speedboard plate that provides a propulsive feel without excessive stiffness. The On Cloudboom Max delivers a firm but cushioned ride with a noticeable forefoot rocker that helps roll through the stride. The ride is snappy and responsive, making it well-suited for easy runs, long runs, and marathon-pace efforts around 5:00-5:30 min/km, though it feels less capable at faster interval speeds.

The upper uses a dense engineered mesh that provides support and durability but can feel warm in hot conditions. The On Cloudboom Max offers a moderately wide toe box with good volume, providing more room than many other On models. A gusseted tongue stays in place during runs, while serrated laces hold securely without coming untied. The heel counter is rigid with good internal padding, delivering secure heel hold and a stable feel on the tall stack height.

The outsole features full rubber coverage with a central decoupling groove running the length of the shoe for smooth transitions. Deep rubber pods provide reliable grip on wet pavement and light gravel surfaces. Durability is excellent, with expected lifespan around 450-500 km based on the extensive rubber coverage.
