Built as a high-mileage trainer rather than a race-day option, it excels on fire roads, wide trails, and less technical single track where cushion and comfort take priority over precision and speed.

The midsole features a thick slab of ZoomX foam wrapped in a thin SR02 carrier foam layer for stability and durability. The ZoomX delivers a soft, plush, and responsive ride with strong bounce underfoot, while the carrier foam sidewalls help control the high stack. An enhanced rocker geometry smooths out transitions from midfoot to toe-off, and the back-weighted design with extra foam in the heel favors heel strikers. The 4mm drop and substantial cushioning make the Nike Zegama 2 well-suited for easy-paced training runs and ultras where impact protection matters more than ground feel.

The engineered mesh upper balances ventilation with structure, featuring a built-in gaiter and fully gusseted tongue to keep debris out. The toebox runs wider than typical Nike models, though overall volume remains standard. Padded reinforcements in the heel and midfoot provide a secure, form-fitting hold, while ample cushioning around the throat adds comfort over long distances.

The Vibram Megagrip outsole uses 4mm chevron-pattern lugs with flat contact patches for reliable traction across varied surfaces. The tacky rubber compound grips well on wet rock, roots, gravel, and slick terrain, making the Nike Zegama 2 capable on mixed conditions without being overly aggressive for smoother trails.
