Description

The Nike Alphafly 3 is an elite-level road racing shoe designed for fast-paced racing and workouts from 5k to marathon distances. Built for runners seeking maximum performance on race day, the Nike Alphafly 3 delivers an aggressive, propulsive ride best suited to faster efforts rather than easy training runs.

The midsole features a continuous full-length ZoomX foam platform, a first for the Alphafly line, combined with dual Air Zoom units positioned in the forefoot beneath a full-length carbon fiber plate. This setup produces a bouncy, springy ride with strong energy return and high responsiveness. The Air Zoom units provide noticeable pop during toe-off, while the ZoomX foam offers soft cushioning in the heel and a smooth transition through the stride. The carbon plate is wider than previous versions, particularly in the midfoot, enhancing stability and propulsion during push-off. The Nike Alphafly 3 performs best at faster paces, feeling responsive from around 5:00 min/km down to sub-3:45 min/km efforts, but feels awkward and uncomfortable at slower recovery paces.

The upper uses Atomknit 3.0, a lightweight one-piece knit construction that includes an integrated tongue for a streamlined fit. The material is soft, stretchy, and breathable, with a low-volume design that runs snug through the midfoot and heel while offering a slightly wider forefoot. The heel counter combines a semi-rigid lower section with a flexible upper portion, providing secure lockdown without heel slippage. The Nike Alphafly 3 fits true to size for most runners, though the snug fit may require a short break-in period.

The outsole uses Nike's Fast Shot rubber compound, which provides improved durability and grip compared to earlier versions. Full rubber coverage protects the forefoot, while minimal coverage in the rearfoot keeps weight down. The Nike Alphafly 3 is designed exclusively for smooth road surfaces and delivers moderate traction on dry pavement.
