The New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro V9 is a cushioned trail shoe designed for long, easy runs on less technical terrain like gravel paths and forest trails. It handles mixed surfaces well, including occasional road sections. Best suited for relaxed paces and recovery runs rather than fast or technical mountain terrain.

The shoe features a dual-density Fresh Foam X midsole with a softer top layer for comfort and firmer bottom layer for stability, delivering plush cushioning with a rocker geometry that aids forward momentum. The mesh upper includes a padded tongue, collar, and reinforced toe bumper for protection. A Vibram Megagrip outsole with multi-directional lugs provides dependable traction on wet and dry trails. The fit runs snug, particularly in the midfoot and toebox, with standard, wide, and extra-wide options available.

Weight is 309g in EU 42.5. Stack height measures 42mm in the heel and 38mm in the forefoot, with a 4mm drop.
