New Balance FRESH FOAM ROAV V2 running shoes

The New Balance Fresh Foam Roav V2 is a lightweight road running shoe designed as a versatile daily trainer for entry-level runners and those seeking an affordable option for short-distance runs and gym workouts. The Fresh Foam Roav V2 works well for runners with a neutral gait and heel-strike pattern.

The midsole features Fresh Foam EVA technology that delivers a bouncy and responsive ride with a high stack platform for cushioning. The Fresh Foam Roav V2 provides a snappy feel on short runs and tempo work, making it well-suited for distances up to 10 kilometers, speed sessions, and cross-training activities. The moderate cushioning and energy return make it less appropriate for long-distance training or high-mileage weeks.

The upper uses a mesh material with seam-free construction to reduce friction during runs. A well-padded heel collar with structured padding locks the heel in place, while flat laces provide secure lockdown through the midfoot. The toe box allows room for natural toe splay, though the overall fit runs slightly narrow and about half a size small.

The New Balance Fresh Foam Roav V2 uses a minimalist outsole design with strategic rubber pods placed at the heel and forefoot for traction, while exposed EVA foam comprises most of the ground contact surface. This approach reduces weight and increases flexibility but limits durability, with the exposed foam showing wear after 300 to 350 kilometers. The shoe is designed for road running and delivers good grip on both dry and wet pavement.
