Running shoes Mizuno NEO ZEN 2

The Mizuno NEO ZEN 2 is a daily training shoe designed for road running, suited to easy runs, recovery sessions, and long distances. It features a high-stack neutral platform with medial support elements that provide stability without being a traditional stability shoe.

The midsole uses Mizuno Enerzy NXT, a nitrogen-infused EVA foam that delivers a soft yet responsive ride with noticeable bounce underfoot. The Mizuno NEO ZEN 2 offers strong shock absorption while maintaining a springy character, making it well-suited for easy to moderate training paces. Compared to the original Neo Zen, the foam feels firmer and more controlled, with less of the lively bounce but improved stability throughout the stride. A medial midsole wedge in the heel adds subtle support, and the moderate rocker geometry helps smooth transitions from landing to toe-off.

The upper combines a knit bootie construction with engineered mesh panels, creating a sock-like fit that molds to the foot. The design features a gusseted structure that wraps securely around the midfoot and heel, with substantial padding around the heel collar for lockdown and Achilles protection. The one-piece tongue construction prevents movement during runs. The fit runs snug and works best for runners with narrow to average-width feet, though the knit material stretches slightly during use.

The outsole uses Mizuno's X10 rubber compound, providing reliable traction on road surfaces including wet pavement. The Mizuno NEO ZEN 2 features improved coverage compared to the first version, with the central cutout mostly filled in for better stability while maintaining adequate grip on asphalt and other paved surfaces.
