The HOKA Rocket X 3 is a carbon-plated super shoe designed for marathon racing and faster training runs. It features a stable, neutral ride with medial sidewalls and carbon plate winglets that provide guidance without sacrificing smooth transitions. Best suited for tempo runs, intervals, and race distances from 5K to marathon, it performs optimally at uptempo and marathon paces but is not ideal for easy or recovery runs.

The midsole uses dual-density PEBA foam with a softer upper layer and firmer lower layer, paired with a full-length forked carbon fiber plate that allows natural roll-through rather than aggressive snap. The single-layer engineered mesh upper is thin, breathable, and provides a snug, secure fit that runs true to size. The outsole features four sections of sticky rubber with excellent traction on roads and track in both wet and dry conditions, though exposed midsole foam in the midfoot raises durability concerns.

Weight is 207g in EU 42.5. Stack height measures 40mm in the heel and 33mm in the forefoot, with a 7mm drop.
