The Brooks Revel 8 features DNA Loft v2 foam in the midsole, an upgrade from the previous version's BioMoGo DNA compound. The cushioning delivers a moderate feel with below-average shock absorption due to the relatively low stack height, making it better suited for shorter runs rather than long-distance training. Energy return is modest, which limits the shoe's responsiveness during faster-paced efforts. The flexible platform and classic rocker geometry provide a natural, unrestricted ride for daily mileage at comfortable paces.

The upper uses a simple engineered mesh construction that offers moderate breathability appropriate for the price point. A non-gusseted tongue with above-average padding and an extended heel collar provide a secure, locked-in fit with easy entry and exit.
