The Brooks Glycerin Flex features DNA Tuned midsole foam, a nitrogen-infused cushioning compound that uses dual-density construction with larger cells in the heel for softer landings and smaller, densely packed cells in the forefoot for responsive toe-offs. The defining feature is FlexZone technology, which incorporates deep flex grooves running the full length of the midsole, creating a podular design that allows natural foot movement throughout the gait cycle. Despite the 36mm heel stack, the shoe bends exceptionally well, delivering a softer underfoot sensation than other high-cushion trainers while maintaining solid energy return. The 6mm drop positions the foot naturally, enhancing ground connection. Best suited for easy runs and steady training paces, the flexible design requires greater ranges of motion at the ankle and knee, placing increased demands on leg muscles.
