The ASICS NOVABLAST 5 is a road running shoe designed as a versatile daily trainer for neutral runners. It serves as a reliable option for everyday training across a range of paces, from easy recovery runs to long distances and occasional tempo efforts.

The NOVABLAST 5 features a full-length FF Blast Max midsole, a new foam that is both softer and more resilient than the previous generation's FF Blast+ Eco. This training-oriented foam delivers a bouncy, protective ride with smooth heel-to-forefoot transitions and good energy return. The cushioning feels comfortable and maintains its responsiveness throughout long runs, though the softer platform is better suited for easy and long training runs rather than fast speedwork. The tall stack provides ample protection without feeling mushy, and the rocker geometry supports natural foot motion.

The upper consists of engineered jacquard mesh that provides good breathability and a comfortable fit. The ASICS NOVABLAST 5 runs true to size with a slightly wider fit and lower volume compared to earlier versions. A semi-gusseted tongue with a lace loop ensures secure lockdown, while the structured toe box offers good forefoot security. Despite the soft midsole, the shoe maintains stability through a wider midfoot and rearfoot platform with large heel sidewalls, making it suitable for neutral runners only.

The outsole uses AHAR LO rubber compound in high-wear zones, offering excellent durability and improved traction over the previous version. The NOVABLAST 5 performs best on dry road surfaces, though traction remains limited in wet or icy conditions.
