The ASICS METASPEED SKY TOKYO is a lightweight road racing shoe designed for competitive distances from 5K to marathon. Built specifically for stride-style runners who increase stride length when accelerating, this carbon-plated super shoe delivers a soft yet highly responsive ride suited to fast racing efforts.

The midsole features a dual-foam construction with FF Leap foam positioned below a full-length carbon plate and FF Turbo+ foam above it. FF Leap is an A-TPU based material that provides a soft, bouncy, trampoline-like feel in the heel that gradually transitions to a firmer, snappier response through the forefoot. The relatively flat carbon plate loads well through the midfoot and forefoot, creating strong energy return without an overly aggressive rocker geometry. The ASICS METASPEED SKY TOKYO excels at marathon pace and shorter race efforts, though the compliant heel makes it less suited to slow warm-up speeds.

The MotionWrap 3.0 upper uses an extremely lightweight, highly perforated mesh that offers excellent breathability and cooling. The translucent material is minimally reinforced with a thin, perforated tongue and a centered heel counter along the Achilles. Sawtooth laces provide secure lockdown, and while the tongue is not gusseted, overall upper security is good with minimal heel slippage. The forefoot offers generous volume for toe splay during long efforts.

The ASICSGRIP outsole uses a durable rubber compound with a grid pattern of oval cutouts in the forefoot to reduce weight. Minimal rubber coverage on the midfoot and heel keeps the shoe light but limits durability, making the ASICS METASPEED SKY TOKYO best reserved for racing rather than training. The outsole provides excellent grip in wet conditions, though the exposed FF Leap foam may show wear with extended use on rough surfaces.
