The Adidas 4D RUN 1.0 uses a 3D-printed lattice elastomeric polyurethane midsole created through Digital Light Synthesis technology in collaboration with Carbon. The lattice structure is programmed to provide softer cushioning under the heel and a rolled forefoot for smoother transitions, but the midsole feels relatively stiff and doesn't compress as much as traditional foam. The firm ride makes the shoe better suited for shorter distances, interval workouts, and cross-training rather than extended runs where softer cushioning is typically preferred.

The upper combines Primeknit construction with a dual-layer mesh offering average breathability. The shoe features extensive padding at the heel, an internal heel counter, and an external heel clip for secure lockdown. Fuse overlays reinforce the heel and toe areas, while a 360-degree midsole outrigger wraps around the foot for added support. The fit runs true to size with ample width accommodation, and the highly supportive platform provides excellent stability with minimal tendency to roll over.

The outsole features a lattice pattern that mirrors the midsole design, constructed from a softer rubber compound that delivers good grip on pavement and asphalt.
