The Adidas SWITCH FWD 2 is a neutral road running shoe designed as a maximalist daily trainer for casual runners, beginners, and heel strikers. With substantial cushioning and a tall stack, the shoe is built for comfortable daily training at moderate paces.

The midsole uses EVA foam with diagonal cutouts throughout, creating a cushioned platform that's softer than the original version but still rides on the firmer, more mechanical side. A full-length TPU plate sits above the midsole to add structure and stability, though it limits the responsive feel despite the design suggesting forward propulsion. The Adidas SWITCH FWD 2 works best for moderate-paced training runs and distances up to half marathon rather than speed work or easy recovery runs, where the firm platform becomes less comfortable.

The upper features thicker engineered mesh without ventilation holes, paired with a semi-gusset tongue that's fixed on both sides for a secure fit. Extra padding around the heel collar with an extended height helps lock down the ankle, while the overall construction provides a true-to-size fit with medium width. Stability is surprisingly good despite the tall platform, thanks to the TPU plate and broad landing platform that keeps the ride planted through corners.

The outsole uses Continental rubber with large triangular cutouts that reduce weight but create gaps extending down to the insole. Grip is excellent on dry road surfaces, though the cutouts tend to catch small rocks during runs. The Adidas SWITCH FWD 2 is designed exclusively for road running and paved surfaces.
