The midsole features Boost foam with a 32mm heel and 22mm forefoot stack, delivering a smooth and naturally rolling ride with good ground impact absorption. The Linear Energy Push system, a rigid plastic bridge running through the midsole, adds stability and creates a more dynamic feel at faster paces while keeping the soft Boost material controlled. The Control Rail stability feature guides the foot's rolling movement without being intrusive, allowing the SOLARBOOST 3 to feel close to a neutral trainer. The shoe works well for long runs and tempo efforts, though its slightly firmer ride and weight make it less ideal for easy recovery sessions.

The upper uses an engineered mesh construction with a firm, supportive feel and thick Adidas stripes on the sides that provide metatarsal support. A sock-like stitched tongue and lateral forefoot overlays enhance the secure fit, while the dual-part heel counter is split along the Achilles area for comfort and features extended padding. The mesh design prioritizes breathability with no soft inner liner in the forefoot, though the materials may feel somewhat stiff initially before breaking in.

The outsole is made from Continental rubber compound arranged in an outer ring for stability and traction, with a central groove exposing the Boost material and flex grooves in the forefoot for natural movement. The Adidas SOLARBOOST 3 is designed primarily for road running on asphalt, concrete, and gravel surfaces, but can also handle light trails and packed dirt paths.
