The midsole features full-length Boost foam, Adidas' signature TPU-based cushioning compound, surrounded by Solar Propulsion Rails made of EVA material that provide stabilizing sidewalls positioned low in the midsole. The Solar Drive delivers a bouncy, soft ride with smooth transitions and substantial underfoot protection, though the cushioning feels firm with limited responsiveness. The shoe handles leisurely daily training and recovery runs well but lacks the energy return needed for faster-paced workouts or tempo sessions.

The upper uses engineered mesh in a cage-free construction with minimal overlays beyond thin painted stripes. A molded tongue and padded collar provide structure, while the firm heel cup offers secure rear-foot hold.
